DIRECTORATE OF STUDENT’S WELFARE (DSW)
The Directorate of Student Welfare is the supporting service of University of Mysore and takes care of the welfare of the students.
The DSW provides accommodation to the students who are admitted to the PG and UG courses, and also provides accommodation facilities to those ladies who are working in and around Mysore in the Working Women’s hostel, and takes care of overall development of the students and their problems.
Under the control of DSW, there are 15 hostels, ( 8 PG hostels and 6 UG hostels and 01 working women’s hostel) spread around Mysore, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts.

The DSW is taking care of mess system cleaning and other menial works, to support the DSW, there is a Chief Warden for ladies Hostel and Faculty Adviser for each hostels for the smooth functioning of Administration of the hostels.
There is a separate engineering division to maintain the physical structure of the hostel, including maintainence of water and electrical systems in Co-ordination with the DSW.
Annual Programme
The DSW conducts the following activities regularly every year.
1) University level Inter-Collegiate Cultural Competitions to identify those who possess best talent in literary and cultural activities. Winners will be sent to the South-zone Youth festival, National and International Youth Festival hosted by AIU. The DSW also conducts Debate Compitation in co-ordination with the Karnataka State Co-operative Dept. and Indian Association of Parliamentarians on population and Development.- New Delhi.
2) Celebration of National festivals like Independence day and Republic day.
