Brief History of Center

University Computer Center was established in the year 1980 under University Grant Commission (UCC), New Delhi, and Primarily to promote the research activity in the university. The center facility has been upgraded from time to time by installing latest computer system catering to the computing needs of the faculty, Research Scholars, students and university administration

The Electronic Data Processing (EDP) activities of this center were decentralized in the year 2001 and since then, the main computer center is exclusively catering to the needs of Research Scholars, Faculty, Students and various post graduate departments, on campus. Also, to harness the infrastructure facilities to a maximum extent, university decided to extend the center facility to impart IT education to general public

To promote Industry-Educational Institution Interaction university encouraged the association of University Computer Center (UCC) with recognized & reputed industries and signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with M/s ECIL, Hyderabad to impart industry oriented skilled training in the emerging field of information Technology.

Activities 

This Center has successfully completed 27 Years of its service by catering to the needs of the administration, faculty, Research Scholars and students. Since 2001 the center is also offering COMPUTER TRAINING PROGRAMS on Non-Formal courses in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology in association with ECIT (Computer Education Division of ECIL - A Govt. of India Enterprise). Besides imparting training to general public, Business Men, House Wives, Students and Professionals the center also organize seminars, workshops and training programs for the benefit of Research Scholars, University Staff, Faculty ,students supporting Technically to University PG Departments (Economics and Co-operation, Women Studies, Business administration, Microbiology, Applied Botany) and Mysore University Finance and Examination Branch.

Considering the infrastructure facility and quality of the training from University Computer Center, Social Welfare Dept, Govt. of Karnataka was sponsored 309 SC/ST Unemployed candidates for one Year Computer Software Training Program and also Karnataka SC/ST Development Corporation, Govt of Karnataka has sponsored 25 SC Unemployment candidates for 3 month hardware program during 2004-05.

Recognizing the infrastructure facility and quality of training being imparted at this center, Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has offered to train the un-employed and destitute students, during 2007-08 under ASHRAYA scheme. Nearly 100 students has been trained during 2007-08 on Desk Top Publishing (DTP) and Web designing Courses

Conducted corporate training in LAMP for Computer Staff of L I C(India)- Mysore region in two batches(15 each) during the month of January 2008. The resource persons are Retired Systems Manager Mr Veerendrakumar M S and Mr A M Sudhakara

ECIT- Computer Training Division of ECIL (A Govt of India Undertaking) was established in the year 1998. Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) under department of Atomic Energy is a pioneer in the field of Electronics and Information Technology. Its efforts started way back in the 1970s. ECIL has been providing customized hardware and state of the art IT solutions to several sectors Banking, Insurance, Police, Defense, Provident Fund, Telecom etc.

ECIT has vast experience in training corporate of various government/Private Organizations, Bank etc., With their tailor made curriculum ECIL got a good expertise in developing quality curriculum, training methodology and evaluation mechanism. ECIT has about 450 centers across the country providing quality training in the field of information Technology and particular especially in the field of VLSI
